New Year’s Resolutions & Happy New Year
I took this photo at the Boston MFA. It’s a photo of an installation by Dale Chihuly; it’s probably the 4th or 5th exhibition of his work that I’ve seen. What moves me about his work is the grandeur he manages to evoke with colored glass. His work inspires me every time I see it. No matter whether the piece is one of his smaller bowls or a full ceiling (like this piece), there is a level of care and detail that he infuses into them.
In the last year, I accomplished a lot of things that I hoped to accomplish. I took the GREs, applied (and got into!) grad school, started weight training, reconciled with old friends, found new ways to grow at my workplace. I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished in 2011, but I know that 2012 will hold great things too. I know that I can push myself further, and I know that you can too. I hope you’ll join me in setting goals for this coming year, because I truly believe that you can accomplish things when you find the resolve to be committed to making them happen.
Happy new year!
