Teaching, Writing, and Having a Grand Old Time
Wow! 2014 is off to an amazing start. A few weeks ago, I had an amazing time in Puerto Vallarta with the awesome team at Convince & Convert. We did a lot of work, but we also had a lot of fun in the sun. But back here in NYC, things are quite a bit snowier. Not to fret…I’m keeping warm, cozied up with tea and charming songs in French.
So what’ve I been up to while I’ve been absent here on the blog? First off, I’m teaching a graduate class in the fabulous Branding & Integrated Communications program at the City College of New York. It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m already impressed with my students and excited to take on the challenge.
Understanding Consumer Behavior and the Art of Persuasion
My class is called “Consumer Behavior & Persuasion,” and I’m focusing on understanding behavior, collecting data and analyzing patterns, and making marketing and communications decisions based on this information. If this kind of thing interests you, here’s my reading list for your reference:
- Understanding Media by Marshall McLuhan
- Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely
- Drive by Daniel Pink
- Nudge by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein
- Thank You for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs
Fun Times Writing
In addition to teaching, I’m also continuing to guest blog over at InNetwork, where my latest blog post was about the awesome band OK Go. It features a ton of crazy fantastic music videos, so be sure to check it out.
Over at Girls Poop Rainbows, Michelle and I are also continuing to write intermittent blog posts about things that we enjoy, so check that out for more comedic/music/New York coverage.
And don’t worry: I’m queueing up some content for this blog too, so join me over the next few weeks for recipes, tips, and culture.
