The Return of the Perennials

MintI love that point in the year when you head outside and you find that your perennial plants have come back. This year, that point came early here in NYC, because of the strangely mild winter. However, I’ve been holding off doing more gardening until this weekend because I wanted to wait out any last cool spells.

Other than the return of my hearty mint plant (pictured), my chives have come back, and some of my mesclun greens have self-seeded a new crop for this year.

Also back are my flowers–more on that soon, but I’m happy to see that my shade border plants are doing well.

Are you gardening this season? What are you looking forward to this season?
