Terrific on Tuesdays: Must-Have Cutting Board Set & Decanter

Today’s ToT is inspired by my recent trip to San Francisco, where a strong food culture and the joys of wine country mean that there are lots of great shops with good kitchen supplies.

Cutting Board Set by Joseph Joseph
I love the idea of this set of color/icon-coded cutting boards in a sleek sleeve that’s stylish enough to stay out on the counter. Imagine the set in a chic modern city kitchen. Retail prices seem to range about $50-$65 (high end from Sur la Table in NYC) which seems a bit high for cutting boards, but it’s a great concept for keeping your food from getting cross-contaminated.

Decanter by menu
This decanter was first brought to my attention by friend-of-a-friend Nell, who recommended it because you can not only decant your wine, but then easily pour it back into its bottle so you can decant the next bottle. Spotted again in wine country, it made me realize that I wanted it for my own kitchen. Again, this guy will run you in the $50-$60 range, but a good decanter is hard to come by and it’s useful for any wine lover.

(Side note: NYC also has great kitchen stores too–yesterday, I stopped at Sur La Table in Soho when I didn’t have time to pop into A Cook’s Companion in Cobble Hill.)
