Treat Yourself, Crocheters

Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Harrison Richards, the founder and creative mind behind Furls Crochet. His beautiful hand-crafted hooks are works of art that combine ergonomic comfort with beautiful craftsmanship.

I received a lovely sample hook from Harrison*, but alas, didn’t have much time to put it into action with all the craziness of managing a career and grad school…but for the last two weeks, I’ve been working on a new afghan, and I’ve put my hook to good use.

And the verdict is…I love my H-hook, which was handmade with a striking zebra-wood. It’s comfortable, smooth, and very elegant, bringing an extra special touch to my hobby time. It’s great for smooth yarns, since it’s rather grippy, as wood hooks are wont to be, and it has a nice balance. I’m a pencil-grip crocheter, but Furls hooks are also great for knife-grip crocheters, as they can customize the shaft to your hand size.

While the hooks aren’t cheap, I’d say that a hook or gift certificate would make a great Christmas (or last-minute Hanukkah!) gift for the crocheter in your life.

*I received a free sample hook. However, all of the opinions in this blog post are my own and I received no compensation for the writing of this post.
