What I'm Eating: Smoked Trout & Wild Mushroom Salad at Van Horn

Recently, I had brunch with my lovely friend Meg at Van Horn, a great little Southern-inspired restaurant in my neighborhood. While everything on the menu looked good, I found myself drawn to the smoked trout and wild mushroom salad. (Yes, I’ve been into mushroom dishes lately.) This was a great choice. The combination of red watercress, hazelnuts, mushrooms, and trout made for a dynamic salad that’s totally worth recreating at home. Not eating fish? I’m sure it would be good without it.

Oh, and please try Van Horn if you’re ever in Cobble Hill. The cocktails are good, as are the sides, and the outdoor area is charming. Go. Enjoy.
